April
After giving birth to my daughter, Eva, I didn’t feel right for a long time. I was finally diagnosed with Severe Aplastic Anemia, a marrow disease. My only hope was a transplant.
Thankfully, a caring stranger stepped forward as my donor. The hardest part was not seeing Eva for weeks because my immune system was too fragile. FaceTiming with her on my iPad was the highlight of my day.
Today, I’m continuing my recovery at home. I was worried that I wouldn’t have the words to express my gratitude to my marrow donor, but the card Eva made for him says it all — "Thank you for saving my mommy’s life."
My day is April 18, my "re-birthday" thanks to my donor.
