August
In 2012 our two boys, Henry and Eli, were diagnosed with Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD), a rare and often fatal genetic disorder that causes rapid deterioration of the brain. For Henry the news came too late, but Eli's early diagnosis meant there was hope: a marrow transplant. Henry passed away in August 2013, 5 months after Eli's life-saving transplant.
We are so grateful to Eli's donor, who gave such an enormous gift. We are so fortunate to celebrate Eli's future, which will be long and bright. And we are so lucky to have had Henry in our lives. We carry him with us always.
