June
Thanks to my marrow transplant in June 2002, my leukemia has been in remission for 13 years. I do struggle with light graft-versus-host Disease (GVHD), which is a complication that can affect many parts of the body. In my case, I’ve been managing GVHD of the skin for years, and it’s certainly been an ongoing challenge.
But, I am grateful to be alive to share additional precious moments with my wife and two daughters, to include watching both of them graduate from high school and college. And, I remain positive and hopeful because transplant research continues to find new treatments and prevention solutions.
My day is June 12—in honor of Tanya, my marrow donor!
