The Need While a marrow transplant can be a life-saving treatment for many patients, it takes a financial toll on a family. Often there is the temporary loss of at least one income. And even with insurance, not all costs are covered. Some patients need help with mounting prescription co-pays. Some need help because their insurance does not cover the cost to search for a marrow donor. Still others struggle with the cost of living vital to their recovery — 60 percent of patients must relocate to be near a transplant center while their fragile immune system heals. How We Help Be The Match Foundation’s Patient Assistance Program provides grants helping to cover food, transportation, lodging, prescription co-pays and other uninsured expenses for up to six months after transplant. Each year Be The Match FoundationSM provides millions in grants for patients who need help, but the need continues. In the past five years we have helped thousands of patients, giving them one less thing to worry about. Help us raise $1 million so more patients can focus on healing.
