Butler University

Introducing Project 44 at Butler University - Dedicated to honoring the memory of #44 Andrew Smith, beloved member of the Butler’s two-time NCAA Finals basketball team, Project 44 is a partnership between Butler University and Be The Match to raise awareness of the need to join the bone marrow registry.   The odds of being called as a donor are 1:430 so we have made it our goal to register 18,920 new potential donors to the Be The Match registry to save 44 lives.  Be the cure.  Join the registry at http://join.bethematch.org/Andrew or make a gift by clicking the Make a Gift button on this page.

Did you know?

  •  Marrow transplant doctors request young donors over 90% of the time for their patients.
  •  While young donors are best for patients, they are the least likely to be committed to saving a life if called as a match.
  • Patients with diverse tissue types and ethnic ancestry are less likely to find a marrow match compared to Caucasian patients

Join us and be the cure.

  •  Help us find innovative ways to educate our campuses, recruit committed donors and raise funds for patients.
  •  Your perspective and influence are vital to raising awareness about our cause and the saving of patient lives.
