In 2015 we raised a remarkable amount of money through an incredible number of donations. We were equally as excited to have so many friends and family ask about and/or join the Be the Match registry.
Please help us raise another $5,000 to reach our goal in 2016. Please help us spread the word to join the Be the Match registry.
In May 2014, after feeling tired and flu-like for several weeks and incorrectly attributing it to my demanding schedule as a wife, mom, and full time healthcare consultant, I found myself in the ER facing the terrifying diagnosis of leukemia. Having survived Hodgkin’s Disease over 20 years ago, the thought of waging a second cancer battle before the age of 40 was daunting at best. Worse, my doctors believed that the treatment used to cure me of the Hodgkin’s when I was younger was the culprit of the Leukemia that I now faced. Determined to confront this latest health adventure head on, I began chemo that night and found myself in remission 14 days after my initial diagnosis. While this was great news, my doctors believed that a life-saving stem cell transplant was necessary to put my disease to bed forever. So, on August 5, 2014, I checked into the Dana Farber Cancer Institute/Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston to begin the transplant process.
I used my year-long transplant recovery as an opportunity to better determine how I could give back and support others in similar situations to my own. Now back to my normal routine, I am committed to continuing the campaign for Be the Match. I was one of the lucky ones – there were several potential donor matches immediately identified for me which meant that we could go to transplant quickly. Others, especially minorities and those of diverse racial and ethnic heritage, are not always as fortunate to find an immediate donor match. By supporting Be the Match through a monetary donation and/or by signing up and expanding the registry, you have the opportunity to help patients in need of an unrelated marrow or umbilical cord blood transplant.
Bridger, Livy, and I thank you for any help that you can provide to Be the Match. Together we have the potential to truly make a difference to thousands of men, women and children in need of a life-saving transplant.

Did you know?
A marrow transplant can be a life-saving treatment for more than 70 diseases including leukemia, lymphoma and sickle cell. Seventy percent of patients do not have a matching donor in their family. They depend on Be The Match to find an unrelated marrow donor and receive the transplant they need.
Please help me reach my fundraising goal by making a tax-deductible contribution. Your gift delivers cures to patients desperate for a second chance at life. Every dollar counts. Together, we can make a difference!
