My husband Matthew was diagnosed in 2013 with two rare blood cancers: Systemic Mastocytosis and Essential Thrombocytosis. He has been on the list to find a bone marrow donor since then with currently no luck. He is currently being treated at the Huntsman Cancer Institue at the University of Utah where they have been monitoring his condition and trying to control it with oral chemotherapy, which is so far working but the doctors have stated that he is still in critical need of a transplant. He recently had to have a core hip decompression surgery on his right hip due to a blood clot from the Essential Thrombocytosis back in march of this year. He is now in the long recovery process from that and will soon have to get surgery on his left hip.
A little bit about us:
My husband Matthew is currently serving since 2006 in the U.S. Army Reserves where he is a Combat Engineer. He also in his spare time loves to build computers and is always learning new things.
I am currently working as a certified Pharmacy tech where I have been working since 2009. I joined as a bone marrow donor that same year in hopes of being a match for him or other people with a similar situation.
We have been married for almost five years now this coming March 3rd 2016, it has been a fun yet challenging five years but I wouldn't trade it for anything. He is my other half and all I am asking is that we help get him a donor and raise money to help pay for the out of pocket costs and maybe a small vacation from all the things that will follow after the transplant is over. My only hope is that we can get him to his next many birthdays and give us the chance to grow old and happy together in the years to come.
Thank you for all the support.
