Pals!
Thank you so much for contributing to Team Lifeblood and Be the Match's life-saving programs! As you know, I was diagnosed with leukemia in 2010 and needed two, yes TWO, bone marrow transplants to save my life! Thanks to the Be the Match, I was able to find the one single only perfect match bone marrow donor--Alex/Jerome--to save my life. What a guy! What an organization!
Since then, I've been riding my bike in all kinds of places as a member of Team Lifeblood to raise money for Be the Match. I rode two centuries in the heat of the Savannah summer, I rode hundreds of miles in my mom's basement watching bad reality TV, and last year, I rode nearly 4,000 with my pal Bob from Vancouver, BC to Jacksonville Beach, FL--all to raise money for Be the Match and show that I've made it this far and this strong after my two transplant.
This year, things have been a bit...different. I'm quarantined in Hilton Head, SC riding in circles on flat flat roads. Even though it's not crossing the country, it's still fun and I'm still pedaling! And, I'm still raising money for Be the Match to support their life-saving programs. And I need your help! You're obviously at my page to donate, so go ahead and do it RIGHT NOW! And, the big news! When you do, your donation will be matched THREE TIMES by generous Team Lifeblood donors and the Harper Family Foundation Foundation. That's three times the live-saving power of your dollardollarbillz.
Also, your donation will support Be the Match's efforts to minimize racial health disparities and outcomes between people of color and white people who need transplants. Right now, white folks (like me) are way more likely to find a bone in the registry. That's really messed up!! Your dollars will go towards Be the Match's work to get more people of color in the registry so Black folks and other people of color in need of transplants can have the same shot at suviving and thriving that I had. So go ahead, click "MAKE A GIFT" up top and put in that credit card info. It's worth it. I promise!!
hearts, starz, and spandex,
Annie
