On November 24, 2014, I had the amazing opportunity to donate peripheral blood stem cells (PBSC) to a 3 year-old boy with Leukemia. I joined the National Bone Marrow Registry when a good friend's cousin was fighting his own battle, so I felt especially lucky when I learned I was the best match for a boy around his same age. I donated cells through Be The Match and they took incredible care of me in the months leading up to my donation and continue to follow up on my health as part of their long-term research. More importantly, Be The Match provides support and care to patients and their families before, during, and after the matching and donation process.
I am committed to remaining on the marrow registry and participating in events like the Be The Match 5K in honor of my "match" as well as my new sister-in-law, Casey, who recently celebrated her 11-year anniversary since kicking Lymphoma.
Please help me reach my fundraising goal of $200! 100% of event proceeds help add new potential marrow donors to the registry, help patients struggling with uninsured costs, and fund research. Every dollar counts and is tax deductible.
I also strongly encourage you to register for the National Marrow Registry at https://join.bethematch.org/ A marrow or PBSC transplant can be a life-saving treatment for more than 70 diseases including leukemia, lymphoma and sickle cell. 70% of patients do not have a matching donor in their family. They depend on Be The Match to find unrelated donors and receive the transplant they need.
Thank you for your support!

Every 3 minutes someone is diagnosed with blood cancer.
Thousands of patients with blood cancers like leukemia or other diseases like sickle cell anemia, need a marrow transplant to survive. Most patients don’t have a fully matched donor in their family — and that’s when they turn to Be The Match®. By participating in a Be The Match Walk+Run, or donating funds, you are providing life-saving support to those patients in need. Do right, join the fight.
