Next month, my friends and I will be participating again in the Be The Match Walk+Run. We totally slayed our walk+run last year, so we decided to make this an annual tradition! Here's to year 2!
We are doing this walk+run to honor two very dear and special people who died of blood cancer. Julia's father is one of these people; please read her page to find out more about him.
As for me, I'm honoring Mary McGillivray. Mary was a kind and gentle person--absolutely one of the most thoughtful and considerate people I'd ever met. She devoted much of her career editing Kindergarten and Grade 1 student materials, taking care to create engaging and meaningful content. Indeed, Mary loved children; she especially doted on all of her nieces and nephews.
Mary was a wonderful friend who is missed every day.
On that note, I’ve set a fundraising goal. The money my friends and I raise will:
Please consider supporting me; we want to show blood cancer that we won't allow it to take the lives of any more of our loved ones. We all want the same gift of celebrating many birthdays and sharing many laughs altogether.

Every 3 minutes someone is diagnosed with blood cancer.
Thousands of patients with blood cancers like leukemia or other diseases like sickle cell anemia, need a marrow transplant to survive. Most patients don’t have a fully matched donor in their family — and that’s when they turn to Be The Match®. By participating in a Be The Match Walk+Run, or donating funds, you are providing life-saving support to those patients in need. Do right, join the fight.
