Welcome to the MUD Bloods 2017 Walk Run Team page. This is our 7th event in Minneapolis and we're pleased you are considering joining and/or supporting us! Updated news flash! As of April 15th, we were at 98% of our ($6k) goal so we moved on to the stretch goal of $7500 but I think we can Superstretch to $8250 $8500 in the last two weeks. Thank you one and all!
We started in 2011 to support Lisa Gareis Korslund as she recovered and gained strength following her Matched Unrelated Transplant (MUD) to treat leukemia. The MUD Bloods have raised over $130,000 since 2011 by attending events, walking, and donating. Thank you for all the support! These funds help to deliver more cures and SAVE MORE LIVES. We also support registry drives and Lisa does speaking events 4-8 times a year. Finding more potential donors, continuing research and supporting patients is what we're about. Lisa is now 5+ years post transplant thanks to her German donor, Rike. Lisa and Rike celebrated her 5th year in remission at the 2015 event by crossing the finish line with the doctor who made the match, Mark Litzow. Following the 2016 event, Lisa and her family traveled to Europe to visit with Rike and her family.
Did you know?A marrow transplant can be a life-saving treatment for more than 70 diseases including leukemia, lymphoma and sickle cell. Seventy percent of patients do not have a matching donor in their family. They depend on Be The Match and the global registry to find unrelated donors and receive the transplant they need.
2017 - Join us!
As always we'll have a great group of folks, a lovely walk around Lake Harriet and possibly on Friday or Saturday a chance for a little social event.
Thank you for stopping by and we hope to see you on May 13th!
Lisa & Team MUD Bloods
Every 3 minutes someone is diagnosed with blood cancer.
Thousands of patients with blood cancers like leukemia or other diseases like sickle cell anemia, need a marrow transplant to survive. Most patients don’t have a fully matched donor in their family — and that’s when they turn to Be The Match®. By participating in a Be The Match Walk+Run, or donating funds, you are providing life-saving support to those patients in need. Do right, join the fight.
