We’re not looking for a cure. We have one. We’re looking for YOU.Our team is participating in the Be The Match Walk+Run to raise money to deliver more cures and SAVE MORE LIVES—and you can help too! Now we need YOU to step up and be a hero to a patient in need.
In April 2015, Mark Eagle was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Mark loves running, flying, and participating in triathalons. During his first hospitalization, Mark was admitted for 40 days and received chemotherapy. He achieved remission!! He spent two months at home while simultaneously attending outpatient appointments in preparation for a bone marrow/stem cell transplant.
Mark was admitted a second time to the hospital during the end of July 2015 to receive more chemotherapy before receiving a bone marrow (stem call) transplant on July 29th, from his brother, Marshal, who was a 100% match. Both brothers are doing well post-transplant.
The Eagle Family & friends are looking forward to participating in the Be the Match 5K Walk Run for the 3rd year in a row. We have been very blessed with the fact that Mark had so many matches in his family and his insurance covered most of the medical expenses for both he and Marshal. During testing for matches for the bone marrow, it was discovered that Mark's sister was also a 100% match and his other brother as well as two daughters were half matches. Mark's medical team had informed us that the chance of just one sibiling being a 100% match would most likely only be a 25% chance.
It is important to us to help raise funds to add donors to the registry, assist families with medical expenses, and increase awareness of AML.
The Eagle family has set up a Facebook Page to share Mark's progress. If you are interested in following his journey, here is the link: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Prayers-Encouragement-for-Mark/1142298989128880
Mark is now almost 2 years post transplant and is doing incredibly well. He continues with outpatient followups on a monthly basis, has resumed flying, and travels frequently. The Eagle family & friends continue to hold Be the Match dear to their hearts and have met several amazing new friends over the last year through leukemia.
We look forward to the Be the Match 5K in September! Thank you for your incredible support!
We’d like you to join our team and help us raise funds. If you can’t make the event, you can also help us reach our fundraising goal by making a tax-deductible contribution. 100% of the event proceeds help add new potential marrow donors to the registry, help patients struggling with uninsured costs and fund research. Every dollar counts.Did you know?A marrow transplant can be a life-saving treatment for more than 70 diseases including leukemia, lymphoma and sickle cell. Seventy percent of patients do not have a matching donor in their family. They depend on Be The Match to find unrelated donors and receive the transplant they need.Thank you!

Every 3 minutes someone is diagnosed with blood cancer.
Thousands of patients with blood cancers like leukemia or other diseases like sickle cell anemia, need a marrow transplant to survive. Most patients don’t have a fully matched donor in their family — and that’s when they turn to Be The Match®. By participating in a Be The Match Walk+Run, or donating funds, you are providing life-saving support to those patients in need. Do right, join the fight.
