Record Keepers

We’re not looking for a cure. We have one. We’re looking for YOU.

As Team Record Keepers (Julia Cheng, Cindy Kwan, Jin Liu, Nicole Gee, and Mike Yan), we're doing a 5K run for marrow transplant donors in honor of Julia's father, Michael Cheng, who passed away from leukemia, and Nicole's friend, Mary McGillivray, who died of multiple myeloma. Please help us fundraise and donate!

We’d like you to join our team and help us raise funds. If you can’t make the event, you can also help us reach our fundraising goal by making a tax-deductible contribution. 100% of the event proceeds help add new potential marrow donors to the registry, help patients struggling with uninsured costs and fund research. Every dollar counts.

The race will take place on Saturday, September 30th at Roosevelt Island. If you'd like to join our team, let us know! You can participate as a runner or walker in a 5K or 1K.

Did you know?
A marrow transplant can be a life-saving treatment for more than 70 diseases including leukemia, lymphoma and sickle cell. Seventy percent of patients do not have a matching donor in their family. They depend on Be The Match to find unrelated donors and receive the transplant they need.

Consider joining the Bone Marrow Donor Registry
Patients need donors who are a genetic match. Even with a registry of millions, many patients cannot find a match. To help more patients find a donor, we need to increase the ethnic diversity of the registry. If you are between the ages of 18 and 44 patients especially need you. Research shows that cells from younger donors lead to more successful transplants. Doctors request donors in the 18-44 age group more than 95% of the time.

Thank you!

Julia, Cindy, Jin, Nicole, and Mike

Every 3 minutes someone is diagnosed with blood cancer.

Thousands of patients with blood cancers like leukemia or other diseases like sickle cell anemia, need a marrow transplant to survive. Most patients don’t have a fully matched donor in their family — and that’s when they turn to Be The Match®. By participating in a Be The Match Walk+Run, or donating funds, you are providing life-saving support to those patients in need. Do right, join the fight.
