Greetings from Team Daby, 2018!
Once again Team Daby will be hitting the trail around beautiful Lake Harriet. We’ll be out there, come rain or come shine (or snow…?) on Saturday, May 12th to raise funds and awareness for Be the Match. It’s always a great family affair!
Now, I know many of you have heard my testimonial, but I’ll repeat it for the sake of you new folks......My four year old cousin, Todd, lost his battle with Leukemia in the 60s. Then, forty years later his nephew, Jamison, was diagnosed with Aplastic Anaemia, a similar form of blood cancer. Because of the advances in bone marrow transplant research, Jamison was matched with a marrow donor and is alive and well today, currently enrolled at MSU. Well, here is another story about uncles and nephews….
My friend’s son, Tommy, was born with CGD, a rare immunodeficiency disease. Tommy died when he was seven or eight years old, unable to beat this disease. Fast forward thirty years...Now, Tommy’s two year old nephew, Johan, has been diagnosed with the same disease. Fortunately for Johan, with discoveries made by Be the Match research, he will be receiving a marrow transplant from his older brother. They have high hopes that Johan will be cured of CGD.
Here’s where you and I and Team Daby come in. We can run or walk to raise awareness for this worthy organization and/or we can make a monetary donation to help fund further marrow research. Research that can help others like Tommy & Johan, Todd & Jamison, and many other uncles & nephews as well as aunts & nieces. You can also check out the Be the Match website to see how you can register to become a marrow donor, a hero who can give life to someone like Jamison or Johan.
Our Daby family will be spending a lovely spring day together, in honor and memory of other family members. But let’s face it, we’re ALL family. Let’s support our human family by supporting the Be the Match foundation. Let’s be HEROES together!!
Thank you for your generosity and compassion. L’chaim! To life!Denise

Every 3 minutes someone is diagnosed with blood cancer.
Thousands of patients with blood cancers like leukemia or other diseases like sickle cell anemia, need a marrow transplant to survive. Most patients don’t have a fully matched donor in their family — and that’s when they turn to Be The Match®. By participating in a Be The Match Walk+Run, or donating funds, you are providing life-saving support to those patients in need. Join the fight.
