I have the POWER to help DELIVER CURES for blood cancer—and you do too.
Welcome to the Lynne's Legacy/Joys Joyful Joggers Home Page!
As a promise to my very good friend, Dean Saba, I will continue to keep the Legacy of Lynne and Joy, alive.
And, Dean and Lynne's daughter, Traci, has asked me once again to Captain this great group!
THE LEGACY WILL CONTINUE, thanks to our very good friends, Joanne Toews, who stepped up in support of the Legacy last year, and to the friendly Fridley and Forest Lake Lions Clubs!!!!
So, please honor my dear cousin, Joy, and dear friend, Dean this year, by supporting Be the Match through volunteering, participating, or giving from the heart. You see, Joy had the perfect name----no matter what life threw at her, she always had that beautiful smile. This is a picture that she texted me after her chemo, and before her transplant, with the caption, "Wild Hair Day". Yep, that was Joy.
Joy was lucky---her brother, John, was a perfect match, and everything went better than expected after Joy received John's marrow. Unfortunately, due to a few procedural issues prior to the transplant, the cancer returned, more aggresively, and Joy was not able to fight it off.
Prior to her passing, Joy knew about my involvement with Be the Match, on their organizing committee for the Minneapolis walk+run events, and asked me to continue doing so, for those that weren't as lucky as she was.
As promised, we have set up a team to help raise awareness, but better yet, we want to find as many people as we can to sign up for the Marrow Registry, and hope that even one of those people, maybe even YOU, will BE THE MATCH for someone waiting and needing a transplant to save their life. You can do that right here, in Minneapolis, on May 12th!!!
The venue, around Lake Harriet, is beautiful, whether you run, or walk, by yourself, with your family or friends, and there's even a short, quick kids run.
Dean was the one who got me involved, initially, with Be the Match. He had just lost Lynne to cancer, had heard I had begun running, and asked if I would captain the original Lynne's Legacy team. I was honored, and the team was started. A couple of years later, Joy got sick, and I started the Joys Joyful Joggers Team as a tribute to Joy. Just before Dean passed away in March, 2016, Dean asked me to captain the team that year, so that Traci and family could have some time grieving and settling Dean's affairs, and I was once again honored to do so, as Dean has a GREAT family. And, Joy's family has agreed to join forces as one single team, at for another great year.
So welcome all to Lynne and Deans Legacy team---this will be a Joyful Day for ALL!!!!
See you at Lake Harriet, and THANKS, for your support!

Every 3 minutes someone is diagnosed with blood cancer.
Thousands of patients with blood cancers like leukemia or other diseases like sickle cell anemia, need a marrow transplant to survive. Most patients don’t have a fully matched donor in their family — and that’s when they turn to Be The Match®. By participating in a Be The Match Walk+Run, or donating funds, you are providing life-saving support to those patients in need. Join the fight.
