We’re not looking for a cure. We have one. We’re looking for YOU.
On February 20, 2015 our world changed forever when our family lost Ben Michael Teach after his sixteen-month battle with leukemia. October 22, 2013, Ben was diagnoised with leukemia he had the normal strain that children are diagnosed with, ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia), and also AML (Acute Myelogenous Leukemia) which normally strikes after the age of 40. To have both at the age of three is extremely rare, so Ben's chances of survival were very slim. On April 11, 2014, Ben received a bone marrow transplant that was facilitated by the Be The Match organization. Ben recovered well and was in remission for five wonderful months. Almost a year to the date of his initial diagnosis, October 15, 2014, Ben’s leukemia returned. Further chemotherapy treatments proved unsuccessful as his leukemia turned chemo resistant. On Friday, February 13, Ben came home and his little body lost its battle a few days later. In honor of our Angel Ben the Teach & Levy families will be participating in the Be The Match 2018 Walk/Run as "Team Ben" on May 6, 2018.
Please help us in transplanting hope and cure blood cancers with this wonderful organization by walking or running with us!! If you can’t make the event, you can also help us reach our fundraising goal by making a tax-deductible contribution. 100% of the event proceeds help add new potential marrow donors to the registry, help patients struggling with uninsured costs and fund research. Every dollar counts.Did you know?A marrow transplant can be a life-saving treatment for more than 70 diseases including leukemia, lymphoma and sickle cell. Seventy percent of patients do not have a matching donor in their family. They depend on Be The Match to find unrelated donors and receive the transplant they need.
We thank you in advance for your support with our cause!
