We’re not looking for a cure. We have one. We’re looking for YOU. Be a part of the Legacy. Lynne's Legacy. Our team name says it all. We are doing this for special people like Lynne. As a full time working mom, grandma and all around amazing lady, Lynne was diagnosed with bone marrow cancer in early 2010. Her siblings were a marrow match for each other, but not for her. Over the course of several months, the search was on to find a bone marrow donor for Lynne. Sadly, a match was not found until she was too sick for the transplant and we lost our beloved Lynne in July of 2010.
We will never have our Lynne here with us, but she leaves an amazing legacy of faith and hope that spurs us on to make sure others with blood and bone marrow cancer get the lifesaving transplants they need. And now, we also honor Lynne's husband, Dean, who championed Lynne's Legacy for years, giving of his time and resources to support this mission. Dean passed away in 2016. It is up to US to carry on this legacy, this mission, this lifesaving work.
We need YOU to join us on this mission. We’d like you to join our team and help us raise funds. If you can’t make the event, you can also help us reach our fundraising goal by making a tax-deductible contribution. 100% of the event proceeds help add new potential marrow donors to the registry, help patients struggling with uninsured costs and fund research. Every dollar counts.
Tom Waldren is serving as our team captain this year and honoring the memory of Lynne and Joy (see Tom's personal page) and others who have battled blood cancers. On behalf of everyone who has been on this mission with us, thank you and see you at Lake Harriet on May 12th.
Did you know?A marrow transplant can be a life-saving treatment for more than 70 diseases including leukemia, lymphoma and sickle cell. Seventy percent of patients do not have a matching donor in their family. They depend on Be The Match to find unrelated donors and receive the transplant they need.
Every 3 minutes someone is diagnosed with blood cancer.
Thousands of patients with blood cancers like leukemia or other diseases like sickle cell anemia, need a marrow transplant to survive. Most patients don’t have a fully matched donor in their family — and that’s when they turn to Be The Match®. By participating in a Be The Match Walk+Run, or donating funds, you are providing life-saving support to those patients in need. Join the fight.
