What is Be The Match?

Be The Match is a non-profit organization with a nationwide community committed to helping patients in need of a marrow transplant by raising funds to add more potential marrow donors to the Registry. 

What's Our Story?

Gary joined the Be The Match Registry in 1999. Nine years later, Adam was born with a very rare form of Leukemia that required an immediate marrow transplant. Gary turned out to be Adam's perfect match! Gary's incredible act of generosity, kindness, and bravery, ultimately saved Adam's life. Adam is now happily enjoying life as a healthy two-year old. How Can I Help?

Please register as a potential marrow donor! All you have to do is fill out some paperwork and swab your inner cheek.

If you are in the Washington, D.C. area, please join us on Sunday, December 5 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the Jane Lawton Community Center in Chevy Chase, Maryland where we will hold a registration drive. Contact your friends and relatives in the Washington, D.C. area and encourage them to join us. Potential donors must be between the ages of 18 and 60 to register.

If you live elsewhere, please consider ordering a swab kit on this website. Better yet, host a drive in your area! All you need to do is to secure a space, recruit some volunteers, and do a little marketing. If you are interested, please contact Juliette Williams at jwilliam@nmdp.org or 1-877-601-1926 ext. 7725 and she will connect you to a Be The Match executive in your area.

Your name on the Registry means that you are ready to help potentially save a life! There are thousands of other children, women, and men in need of a marrow transplant.

What's Involved in Joining the Registry?

You will be asked to fill out some paperwork and swab your inner cheek. If you are contacted in the future to be a donor, more testing will be conducted to determine if you are the best fit for the person in need. If selected as a match, a doctor will explain which type of medical procedure is to be conducted.

What More Can I Do?

Donate money! It costs approximately $100 to add each potential donor to the Be The Match Registry.  Contributions from people like you are relied upon to do so.

What Does Be The Match Do with the Funds?

100% of the funds donated to the Be The Match Registry are used to add donors to the Registry who can potentially give a second chance at life to another individual.
