Our dear sweet colleague, friend and family member, Dr. Nalini Ambady, is in need of a bone marrow transplant as a result of a relapse in her Leukemia. Unfortunately, the pool of South Asians donors is relatively small making the likelihood of finding a match about 50%.  A bunch of us have gathered together around the country and world to increase the sample and therefore the likelihood of finding a her (an others) a match. Registering takes less than 90 seconds (you get sent a kit and you swab the inside of your cheek) and donating bone marrow (if you are a match for someone) is only a little more involved than donating blood.  We are asking that everyone who knows Nalini consider making a donation (monetary or cheek swab) and encouraging  at least one  South Asian friend or family member to consider donating as well.  We can also help you set up a drive at your University, Temple or even hair salon!    Time is of the essence!  We have only a few weeks to benefit Nalini.
