Be The Match is important to me! I have been involved in the Bone Marrow Transplant field since 1986 and assisted in the OR when the first National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) donor was harvested at the Cleveland Clinic in 1988. I believe the NMDP - Be the Match Registry is a great organization. They have given thousands of people the possibility of a CURE over the last 25 years because a stranger was willing to donate stem cells to them. When the "Over the Edge" Event was presented to our BMT team at the Cleveland Clinic, I "jumped" at the chance to help raise money for a program that I know saves lives. Please help me with this exciting (and scary) opportunity to rappel down the side of a nearly 200 foot building.
Check out the video to see what the Over the Edge Event is all about.
Please make a pledge and help me hit my fundraising goal and celebrate with me at the event on July 27th!
If I raise $1,000 by July 27th, I will get the chance to rappel down a 12 story building next to my long time BMT buddy and dear friend, Sheila Serafino but more importantly, you will be helping "Be the Match" so patients who need a bone marrow or umbilical cord blood transplant can find a donor to make it possible.
Where does the money go? Contributions go for the direct support of Be The Match Foundation to help with patient assistance and with costs of marrow typing for those who wish to join the Be The Match Registry®. The total cost to add a new member to the registry is about $100. We rely on contributions from individuals and organizations to help give more people the opportunity to join the registry.
