Be The Match For Greg
Greg Kitterman is 55 years old and has been married to Susie for 31 years. He is blessed with two wonderful children, Sol (23) and Gregory (19). Greg is an attorney and has been practicing law for 29 years.
Greg was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) on January 15, 2014. He received intense induction chemotherapy and is currently in remission. He learned that he needs a bone marrow transplant in order to survive, and is waiting on a match to be his donor. He is in the process of undergoing consolidation chemotherapy to sustain remission until a match is located.
Please help us by participating in the “Be the Match for Greg”. It is very simple to register and only takes minutes of your time! We are asking everyone, please, take a few minutes of your day and register to become a donor on the Be the Match Registry operated by the National Marrow Donor Program. The drive is Friday, April, 11th and Saturday, April 12th from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at War Memorial Stadium -Westside, Little Rock, Arkansas.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping Greg and many others that are in need of this life-saving donation.
If you are between the ages of 18 and 60 (especially 18-44), are generally healthy, and are willing to donate to anyone in need, we are asking you to join the registry. Even if you are already registered or do not meet the criteria, there is a significant need to raise funds for this organization and the life saving work that they do. It costs the National Marrow Donor Program approximately $100 to register each person. Funds raised will go to Be The Match in honor of “Be the Match for Greg” to help offset those costs. It is our wish that every patient who needs this lifesaving therapy receive it. That can only be accomplished with help from all of us.
Please come and support this life changing event by joining the registry, giving Greg and others a chance at life. The cure starts with YOU…

What takes only minutes to do, could make a lifetime of difference to a patient and could save Greg or any number of others in need. Think about giving the “gift of life”!
Team Be The Match is important to us:
Team Be The Match is a nationwide community committed to helping patients in need of a marrow transplant by raising funds to add more potential marrow donors to Be The Match Registry. We are looking to raise a total of $35,000.00 to help pay for the HLA tissue typing of volunteer donors on the Be The Match Registry in our area. Remember, thousands of patients rely on this registry to find an unrelated marrow donor to save their lives. It costs Be the Match approximately $100 for each donor to be tested and added to the registry. Any amount will help!
Why You Should Help:
Be The Match relies on our support to collect contributions from people like us so that it can further its mission. Together we can help save lives! By supporting us, your "tax-deductible" contribution will help to add new donors to this lifesaving registry. Once a donor is added to the registry they remain searchable by patients until the donor turns age 61. Your financial contribution today can mean numerous lives saved today and for years to come.
What Does Be the Match Do?
Be The Match works to provide hope and deliver a second chance at life to patients by:
* Recruiting and supporting potential donors: To connect patients with donors, Be The Match manages the largest and most diverse donor registry — nearly 8 million marrow donors and nearly 100,000 cord blood units. Donors can turn to their Donor Advocacy Program for support throughout the donation process.
* Supporting patients: To help patients access treatment, Be The Match offers financial support and educational resources.
* Educating doctors: Referring physicians can turn to Be The Match for information about transplant advances, caring for transplant patients and the importance of timely referral for transplant.
* Advancing science: Be The Match's research programs have advanced the science of bone marrow and cord blood transplant, from better matching the right donor to the right patient for improving post-transplant treatment.
Our partnership will not only help raise awareness and raise much needed funds for those currently in need, it just might help save someone’s life. The need for donors is critical, on-going, and with your help, within our grasp.
*Attend the live drive and register...invite your family and friends to join us as well.
*Help us raise money. Any contribution is welcomed.
*Spread the word, the more people we register and money we raise the more matches we can find the thousands of patients that search for a match and their second chance at life!
